Shayla has worked in private practice as well as animal-assisted therapy settings and in behavioral health. She has experience working with children, adolescents, young adults and postpartum mothers. She has worked in group therapy settings for depression, anxiety and post-partum depression and anxiety, as well as women with domestic violence trauma.
Shayla has also worked with the most high-needs families and children in Durango, Ignacio and Bayfield areas, providing case management, therapy, and assisting in the Denver Children’s hospital psychiatry clinic. Shayla is also certified in HEAL, an equine-assisted form of therapy for trauma.
Shayla is working towards more certifications in trauma and crisis training as well as working towards being trained to perform the STAT, an autism screening tool and is working towards becoming a registered play therapist.
She enjoys working with children ages 4 and up, teens, and adults.
